Father John Hennies was ordained to the priesthood of the Orthodox Church in America by his Eminence Archbishop DMITRI of Dallas and the Dicosese of the South. The ordination took place during the Divine Liturgy at Saint Seraphim Cathedral in Dallas, Texas on Sunday Nov. 19, 2006.
Fr. John was assigned as Priest-in-charge to Saint Dimitri Orthodox Mission where he and his wife Ana has made their home for the past two years. He comes to Orthodoxy after forty-seven years of pastoral minstry as an Episcopal priest. He is a graduate of Black Hills University in South Dakota where he earned a B.S. in Education degree. He was graduated from the Episcopal Theological School and Harvard Divinity School in Cambridge, MA with a Master of Divinity degree. Fr. John received a Doctor of Ministry degree from the Graduate Theological Foundation at Notre Dame in Indiana.
His academic credentials include twenty-one hours of additional graduate hours in psychology and communication, study at Ann Arbor, MI in gerontology, and extended pastoral education with Lutheran Social Services. He enrolled in the Saint Stephen's course for two years in an Orthodox Studies program at Antiochian Village in Pennsylvania.
